Heartwood Machine
Mail-in Service

A common failure on many carburators in use on small engines (of all ages) as well as various full-size carburated engines -- is the failure of the carburator casting features that hold the hinge pin for the float. Sometimes referred to as the pin boss, or float post - these can be a fatal injury to a variety of carburators with tight pin fits (such as Nikki and Makuni carburators, amongst others).

Heartwood Machine is able to repair many carburators. For this particular failure mode, the remaining post is milled down (or off completely), and a replacement is threaded in and cross-drilled to accommodate the cross-pin that supports the float and needle -- see pictures below

If you find yourself in this situation and want to keep your OEM carburator; or OEM replacements are unavailable; and/or aftermarket carburators don't run your engine right - reach out, let's discuss fixing yours. These repairs tend to be more economical than replacement OEM carburators.
